Terms of Service
Terms of Service for Freedom Philanthropies
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Freedom Philanthropies website at https://freedomphilanthropies.org and any donations you make to Freedom Philanthropies through the site. By using the site or making a donation, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the site, browsing our content, signing up for communications, or making a donation, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the site or make a donation.
About Freedom Philanthropies
Freedom Philanthropies Inc. ("Freedom Philanthropies," "we," "us," or "our") is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our Tax ID (EIN) is 85-4080008, and our registered address is 99 Wall St, Suite 3013, New York, NY 10005. Throughout these Terms, references to "you" or "your" mean any visitor to the site, donor, or other user of the site.
Eligibility
By using the site or making a donation, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and legally competent to enter into these Terms. If you are making a donation on behalf of an organization, you additionally confirm that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
Donations
By making a donation through the site, you authorize the charge and confirm that the payment information you provide is accurate and belongs to you (or to a person or organization on whose behalf you are authorized to act). The following terms apply to all online donations:
- Payment processing. Donations are processed by third-party payment providers. Your donation is also subject to the payment provider's terms of service and privacy practices. Depending on the program or region you select, your donation may be processed separately through a trusted third-party donation partner, subject to that partner's terms.
- Charge posting timing. Charges typically appear on your card or bank statement within 1 to 5 business days; exact timing depends on your issuing bank or card network.
- Multi-currency. You may give in your own local currency. Our donation system supports 135+ currencies and, where available, automatically displays donation amounts and receipts in your local currency based on geolocation. You may also switch the displayed currency on the donation form.
- Designations. When you choose a country or program on the donation form, we direct your gift to that initiative. In the event that a designated program is fully funded, paused, or otherwise unable to deploy the gift in a timely manner, Freedom Philanthropies reserves the flexibility to allocate funds to the closest intended program or to areas of greatest need, so care reaches every community we serve.
- Recurring donations. You can modify or cancel a recurring donation at any time through our donor portal at https://donors.freedomphilanthropies.org or by emailing info@freedomphilanthropies.org. Cancellation stops future installments but does not retroactively reverse prior charges (those fall under the Refund Policy below).
- Mailed donations. Checks should be made payable to "Freedom Philanthropies Inc." and mailed to 99 Wall St, Suite 3013, New York, NY 10005. If you would like a tax receipt for a mailed donation, please include a note with your donation requesting a receipt along with the email address where it should be sent. We do not send receipts by physical mail.
- Compliance. Freedom Philanthropies complies with applicable U.S. law and delivers every program through vetted local partners.
Tax-Deductibility
Freedom Philanthropies Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit; donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Tax receipts are issued by email.
If you receive goods, services, or merchandise in exchange for a contribution (for example, event tickets, branded merchandise, or other thank-you items), the fair market value (FMV) of the benefit you receive will be shown on your donation receipt. The deductible portion of your gift is the donation amount minus the FMV of the benefit, as required by IRS rules. If the FMV of the benefit equals or exceeds the donation amount, the deductible portion is zero.
Freedom Philanthropies does not provide tax advice. Please consult your own tax advisor with any questions about how a contribution applies to your specific situation.
Refund Policy
If you have made an error in your donation to Freedom Philanthropies (for example, a duplicate charge or a mistaken transaction), we will honor your request for a refund made within 30 days of the original donation, subject to the following conditions:
- Undeployed funds only. Refunds are available only where the gift has not yet been allocated to a specific field program or disbursed to a field partner. Once funds have been deployed to field operations, the gift may no longer be recoverable.
- Processing fees. Refunds are issued less any non-recoverable payment processing fees retained by our payment processor.
- Refund method. Refunds are issued to the original method of payment.
- Recurring gifts. You can cancel a recurring donation at any time through our donor portal at https://donors.freedomphilanthropies.org or by emailing info@freedomphilanthropies.org. Cancellation stops future installments. A refund of an already-processed installment is subject to the 30-day error rule above.
- Exceptions. Any request that falls outside this policy, including requests received more than 30 days after the original donation and requests that are not based on an error, will be considered on a case-by-case basis at our discretion. Please email us at info@freedomphilanthropies.org and we will do our best to help.
How to request a refund. Email info@freedomphilanthropies.org with the donation date, amount, and the name on the gift. Please also include your most recent donation receipt if available, or the donation ID number from your receipt.
